We finished discussing One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest today. Please see the list of final projects attached. Your final project will be due next Friday.
We also had open mic. Open mic will continue on Monday.
We did some writing to think and had some discussion of the fact that The Chief and McMurphy have their party right in the heart of the hospital. It was similar things we sometimes see in school. We discussed the Girl’s Choice dance, where some students were asked to leave because of inappropriate dancing. But if you wanted to dance that way, why come to do it in the one place you are not allowed to?
We came up with several theories about this, but most importantly, like The Chief, it proves something to yourself about whether or not these institutions have power over you.
We then watched our film. Please read 318-325 tonight, the end of the novel.
We worked on pages 77-80 in our ACT Packet today. Please complete #1-15 on page 80.
We then continued with Cuckoo’s Nest, Please read 290-300 tonight.
We are moving into the final section of the book, combining many harsh analogies about our relationship to institutions with a sense of hope.
Please read the fight scene in Cuckoo’s Nest, pages 270-275.
We also worked on ACT pages 75, exercises about subject/verb agreement.
We completed literature circle selections today and had reading time for our outside reading books. Please bring these books every Friday from now on.
Enjoy your weekend.
We went over literature circles book choices today, discussing the books:
The Glass Castle,

Angela’s Ashes
Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned.
We discussed the first question on the test in groups, the nurse’s assertion that mental illness comes from flouting the rules and not being punished. Bring your outside reading books on Friday, please.
We took a test on 180-258 in Cuckoo’s Nest
Please see me if you need to make up the test.
